Located near Shibushi Bay on the southeast coast of Kagoshima Prefecture, Tensei (est. 1901) is a very productive distillery given its physical size and focuses on barley. Tensei brews its mash with "Hishida shikomimizu" the softest water in Kagoshima and all distillation is then done with atmospheric distillation.
This 100% barley shochu uses roasted barley in its mash bill to give it a dark chocolate-coffee expression that is unmistakable. Easily enjoyed hot or in coffee or tea, this is also a beautiful straight sipper.
