This Bourgogne Pinot Noir is from a tiny two hectare plot just outside the Savigny-les-Beaune appellation, just where the Maurice family has their cellar. It extols the virtues of pure Pinot Noir fruit with a captivating ripe perfume. The palate is soft and silky with notes of cherry, raspberry and strawberry, fruity flavors which are balanced by earthy notes of mushroom and game. Light and supple tannins support the structure of the Pinot and lead into a ripe finish. A Savigny in all but name.
A good wine to complement light meats, roast pork, coq au vin, or barbequed duck in the backyard.
