Unti Vineyards Zinfandel 2023

Producer Notes:

80% Zinfandel, 20% Petite Sirah

Vintage: 2023 will go down as one of the best vintages of the centrury (easy to say since we are only 25 years into this one. A moderately cool summer led to a warm and dry September/October. We harvested our Zinfandel the second week of October, which is later than normal, at great flavor ripeness and solid acidity.

Winemaking: We are firm beleivers in the Dry Creek Valley tradition of blending Petite Sirah with Zin for body and tannin structure. We normally blend a little Barbera for acidity, but that wasn't necessary in 2023, since we were able to achieve ripe Zinfandel with better than normal acidity. We age our Zinfandel in only French Oak barrels, 30% new, for 16 months
