Nada Barbaresco Marcarini 2020

Nada Barbaresco Marcarini 2020

Enrico Nada is a rising young star making a range of impressive wines and a downright stunning Barbaresco from a steep, perfectly exposed Cru called Casot near Treiso. Michael Franz, winereviewonline.com, June 2013 The Marcarini parcel belonging to the Nada family has 5 acres of vines, 1.5 of which is Nebbiolo planted in the late 1970s. Marcarini faces northeast and catches the cooler morning sun while Casot, on the other side of the steep ridge, gets the warmer afternoon sun. This wine is made and raised essentially the same as the Casot Barbaresco. VINEYARD Site: Marcarini is the coolest of Nadas two crus. Its vines abut the estates cellar and extend down the flank of the steep ridge leading to Treiso. Exposition is northeast; the vines catch the morning sun. Soil: Soils are clay, calcareous marls and chalk. Vines: From 1.5 acres of the estates oldest vines in Marcarini planted in the 1970s. Certified organic. Varieties: Nebbiolo. CELLAR Elevage: Slow, traditional fermentation and maceration of 40-50 days with submerged cap. Minimum SO2 addition, if needed, following fermentation. Aged in 500L and 1,000L tonneaux year one; then aged in Slavonian casks for another year. No fining and only a light filtration. Production: 250 cases. Profile: A refined and graceful wine with lingering tannins. Full-bodied, complex, with great elegance and aging potential.
