Mussio Trevenezie Rosso 2022

Nestled in the northeastern corner of Italy, the Mussio Wines pay homage to the history of Friulian Immigrant Giuseppe Mussio, grandfather of West Coast import/export partner, Max Mussio Lewis. Giuseppe Mussio was born in Zoppola in 1898, but spent most of his adult life in San Francisco after fleeing World War II – where he ran a restaurant called Bar Nevada (a gathering place for Italian expats) during the ’20s and 30’s. When he retired, he moved back to his native Friuli, married, and began a second career making wine. 

The Mussio Rosso 2022 is made from 100% Cabernet Franc. The wine is inviting and approachable: herbaceous with a juicy core of red berries (cherry, raspberry) and subtle green pepper notes, framed by lively tannins and a refreshingly lean structure. A great pizza, pasta wine that also works with more savory flavors (roast vegetables, mushrooms) and game.
