Friday Night Tasting: Women's Weekend Kick Off with Martha Stoumen Wines | March 6th, 2026 | 5-7:30pm

We wanted to go big for International Women's Day Weekend this year, and I couldn't think of a more inspiring winery to highlight, that Martha Stoumen Wines. We're super excited to have Martha's right hand woman and Digital Content Manager, Alyssa Julian, at our shop to pour.

Martha launched her eponymous label in 2014, out of a garage in Orinda (totally self-funded) with the aim of capturing a winemaking culture of careful farming and patience, inspired by her 8 years of apprenticing around the world (particularly at COS in Sicily). She has been a leading voice in California's natural wine scene (though never dogmatic in her approach) and in California's embrace of Mediterranean Italian varieties (principally Vermentino and Nero d'Avola), alongside masterful blends of heritage plantings of Colombard, Carignan and Zinfandel tended to by generations by Italian-American immigrants in Mendocino and Contra Costa. Twelve years later, Martha Stoumen remains one of the most successful winemakers and entrepreneurs of her generation. 

Back when I brand new to the West Coast, some ten years ago, Martha Stoumen was my natural wine gateway drug to the "New California" wine, so this event is particularly special event on a personal level -- a homecoming in a way. 

We'll be pouring her beloved Post-Flirtation blends, along with her superb Benchlands Red.
