When did supposedly-sophisticated wine drinkers decide to turn their noses up at off-dry and sweet wines?

For most of human-wine-drinking-history, most wines - including the most prized wines - were sweet, with the best examples reserved for the highest royal courts; even today, sweet wines are among the most collectible age worthy ones and can command a hefty price at auctions.

Yes, sweet wine can be sweet and serious! Just think of the complexity in a glass of Sauternes, or the food pairing possibilities for Moelleux Vouvray.

It can also be fun. For many of us - myself included - sweet wines (in my case, Moscato d'Asti) were our gateways into the wonderful world of wine. Moscato d'Asti, and its red "cousin" Brochette d'Acqui, make great aperitifs.

Join us for a tasting of 4 prime examples that we think we start making regular appearances in your wine drinking repertoire:

  1. Braida Brachetto d'Acqui 2024
  2. Domaine Huet "Le Haut-Lieu" Moelleux Vouvray 2022
  3. Peter Lauer Barrel X Riesling Feinherb 2024
  4. Chateau Roũmieu-Lacoste Sauternes 2023

$15 general / $10 club members

As always, all featured wines will be 10% off for tasting attendees.
