We're thrilled to host our neighbor, Oakland-based winemaker/ founder, Sabrina Tamayo, and share her Ruby Blanca wines.

We think these are the perfect wines for kicking off the July 4th weekend because

A. Sabrina makes the kind of playful, refreshing wines you’ll want to sip all holiday weekend long!

B. Sabrina’s label pays homage to her Colombian (abuelas Rubelia and Blanca) and their strength -- in particular, the risk her Abuelita Rubelia took when she immigrated to the US so her children and grandchildren could have better opportunities than she did. Sabrina and her family's intergenerational-immigrant experience reminds us of the cultural richness and opportunities that still make our nation great (especially at this time when so many of us are not feeling so great about it).

More About Ruby Blanca:
Sabrina’s journey to wine was influenced by the experiences she gained growing up as an artsy kid between a US city (Miami) and her grandmother’s farm in Colombia, where she developed a deep appreciation for agriculture.

As a student in art school (her paintings grace each of her wine labels), she supported herself by working at restaurants, eventually discovering a passion for wine. From there, she helped build beverage programs at top spots in NYC and SF (Delfina, Che Fico). Eventually, this same curiosity led her to wine production. After working harvests at industry darlings - Bedrock, Ryme and Matthiason - she took yet another leap and launched her own label.

As an artist, former sommelier and queer, Latinx woman, Sabrina brings a unique perspective to her craft. She makes beautiful, balanced wines from well-farmed vineyards, and offers them at price points and in styles that don't exclude her friends and family.
