2018 Malbec Pedregal Vineyard, Paicines
Vineyard: This vineyard is situated inland 30 miles from the Monterey Bay, right in between Hollister and Pinnacles National Park. The rise in elevation allows this vineyard to get plenty of heat during the growing season, which allows the Malbec to ripen optimally. The farming practices are sustainable.
Winemaking: At harvest 24.5 Brix 3.66ph
Punched down gently throughout the cold soak, fermentation, and extended
maceration totaling 14 days. Pressed directly to barrel. Aged 18 months in 30%
New French Oak, 70% seasoned Hungarian Oak.
Finished wine: 13.6% alc
Notes: Blueberry and plum are the prominent fruit component, which is met with
hints of wet gravel, hibiscus tea, and smoke. The palate is dense, and has firm
tannins. Also present is vanilla, and pretty blue purple fruit. This Malbec has a very
lengthy finish, and is a very serious wine that has potential to age gracefully.
Pairing: Enjoy this wine with juicy meats, and grilled veggies.
