Our winemaker Timothy Skok came to Sonoma, after having grown up in new England, living in Europe (observing the wine regions there), as well as studying geology in Colorado. He honed his production skills as a Brewmaster in Colorado, as well as being an Assistant Winemaker in Sonoma County for 10 years. After surveying the many different sub-regions of Sonoma County, he started his "garagiste" winery in his garage in 2008. Today he continues to survey and explore the wines of the world and local wines as a Michelin-Star Sommelier, while surveying his own vineyards, and continuing to look for new and unique vineyards to add to the portfolio. The wines of BSC are crafted in a traditional European style, very focused on the micro-climate of the terroir, physiological ripeness, and picking based on taste, acidity and structure; more so than brix. We ferment our wines using cultured yeasts, after a cold maceration to extract the right amount of color and flavor without tannins or astringency. All of the wine is barrel aged using a blend of neutral, 2 year and 1 year oak, depending on the needs of each wine.
Our 2014 Roma’s Vineyard is a Pinot-lover’s Pinot Noir. Not a big bruiser Cali Pinot. This is elegant, high-elevation Pinot Noir that soaks in the sunshine high above the cloud line with long hang time in the cold reaches above the Anderson Valley of Mendocino county.
“This full-bodied wine has an earthy character and plenty of fruit to help it stand out from the crowd. Touches of barnyard and forest floor in the aroma are followed by intriguing complex red and black-cherry, spice and pine flavors on the palate and vivid acidity to keep them lively. It finishes with freshness and more cherry reverberating.”
