60% Garnacha, 20% Syrah & 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
The wine is named for the area between Falset-Porrera-Pradell - "Partida de les Sentius" – within the Priorat appellation. Grapes are both purchased (for older vine material) and sourced from the low yeilding estate vineyards in La Garranxa at 650 meters altitude. Aged 15 months in one & two year old 225L French Allier oak barrels.
in the glass
As is the case with most wines of the Priorat, this wine is no wimp. Dark colors of crimson fill the glass while scents of figs, cocoa, and blueberry jump out. The palate is rich but perfectly balanced by amazing minerality and acidity that are the hallmark of vines grown on the black slate soils of Porrera. Great length and composure give one the sense that the Sentius may be one of the best values of the Priorat.
what they are saying
91 points, International Wine Cellar/Vinous
“Sexy black and blue fruit aromas are complicated by smoky mineral and cola qualities. Fleshy cassis and blueberry flavors are sharpened and lifted by juicy acidity. Gains sweetness and depth with air, finishing with a suave note of black raspberry and silky, polished tannins.” - Josh Raynolds
