Made by Brack Mountain Wine Company, L'Oliveto is 100% Chardonnay sourced from one of the oldest vineyards in the Russian River Valley, where vines regularly yield fruit with exceptionally high natural acidity. The super-cool but long 2010 vintage had excellent results here, as grapes were able to achieve phenolic ripeness over a long hang-time while cool temperatures preserved naturally high acid levels. Barrel-fermented in a combination of new and neutral French oak, and then aged on the lees in 100% French oak (40% new) for fifteen months, this crisp, complex Chardonnay exhibits Chablis-like aromas and flavors of lemony citrus and minerals, with apple, and pear and puff pastry accents. The wine gains weight and complexity with air, as hints of buttered toast and baked apple come forward. Enjoy young with decanting and over the next 5-7 years. Only 600 cases produced.
