She has been a leading voice in California's natural wine scene (though never dogmatic in her approach) and in California's embrace of Mediterranean Italian varieties (principally Vermentino and Nero d'Avola), alongside masterful blends of heritage plantings of Colombard, Carignan and Zinfandel tended to by generations by Italian-American immigrants in Mendocino and Contra Costa.
