Weekend Wine Tasting 'Climate Change, the Italian Way'
Climate change is real...at least as it applies to Italian wine growing regions. This week, our line-up more than exemplifies what we mean. Nothing is more vast than the multitude of micro-climates among the Italian viticultural areas. From the frigid, Alpine peaks to the sun-kissed sands of the South, Italy's wine regions are some of the best to study when it comes to how temps and terroir affect what goes into bottle. Come in this weekend for a glimpse of just this. We will examine, in our most scientific and swirly way, what exactly the warm sun does to otherwise high-acid, white varietals, and what a drop in temp can mean for otherwise bold and brawny reds. We promise to make believers out of you yet.   2015 Corte di Giso Falanghina Irpinia, Italy 2015 Occhipinti  'SP68 Bianco' Sicily, Italy 2014 Mauro Molino 'DiMartina Vino Rosso' Lange, Italy 2015 Anna Maria Abbona 'Sori dij But' Dogliani, Italy
Friday Nite Tasting 'Tessier Winery' featuring Kristie Tacey
Created in 2009, Tessier is a micro winery handcrafting small lots of Pinot Noir, Grenache, Cabernet Franc and Viognier. For winemaker Kristie Tacey, sustainability is a priority, not only in choosing vineyards that incorporate such farming practices, but in the footprint the winery leaves in the community and in interactions with others. Her strong relationship with growers in Russian River Valley, the Santa Cruz Mountains, and El Dorado results in high quality fruit, and her minimal winemaking approach allows the grapes and vineyards to speak for themselves. Annual production, though expanded since the inaugural vintage, is still only 600 cases, which allows for unparalleled attention to each wine. 2016 Tessier Viognier 'Catie's Corner Vineyard' Russian River Valley, California 2014 Tessier Pino Noir 'Saveria Vineyard' Santa Cruz Mountains, California 2014 Tessier Pinot Noir 'Morelli Lane Vineyard' Russian River Valley, California 2015 Tessier Grenache El Dorado, California
